PROVISIONAL CONSTITUTION (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 2000

CHIEF EXECUTIVE ORDER 7 OF 2000

[Gazette of Pakistan, Extraordinary, Part I, 15th July, 2000]

No.2-10/99-Min I., dated the 15th July, 2000.--Whereas, for removal of doubts it is necessary to reaffirm the continuity and enforcement of the Islamic provisions in the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan as hereinafter mentioned;

And, whereas, it is expedient in the public interest to remove all such doubts;

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the Proclamation of the Fourteenth day of October, 1999, and the Provisional Constitution Order No. l of 1999, as amended and in exercise of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, the Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is pleased to make and promulgate the following Order:--

1.--(1) This Order may be called the Provisional Constitution (Amendment) Order, 2000.

(2) It shall come into force at once and shall be deemed to have taken effect on and from the Fourteenth day of October, 1999.

2. In the Provisional Constitution Order No.1 of 1999, in Article 2, after clause (3), the following clause shall be inserted and shall always be deemed to have been so inserted, namely:--

"(4) Notwithstanding anything contained in the Proclamation of the Fourteenth day of October, 1999 or this Order or any other law for the time being in force, all provisions of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan embodying Islamic Injunctions including Articles 2", 2A, 31, 203-A to 203-J, 227 to 231 and 260(3)(a) and (b) shall continue to be in force and be deemed to have always so continued to be in force and no provision as aforesaid shall remain in abeyance or be deemed to have remained in abeyance at any time.".
