CIVIL COURTS (SIND AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE, 1970

An Ordinance to amend the Karachi Courts Order, 1956 and the West Pakistan Civil Courts Ordinance, 1962

No. S. Legis. 1(13)/70.‑The following Ordinance by the Governor of Sind is hereby published for general information :‑

Preamble.‑Whereas it is expedient to amend the Karachi Courts Order, 1956, and the West Pakistan Civil Courts Ordinance, 1962, in the manner hereinafter appearing;

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the Martial Law Proclamation of 25th March 1969, read with the Provisional Constitution Order, and in exercise of all powers enablibng him in that behalf, the Governor of sind is pleased to make and promulgate the following Ordinance ;----

ORDINANCE XIII OF 1970

1. Short title and commencement.---(1) This ordinance may be called Civil Courts (Sind Amendment ) Ordinance, 1970*.*

2. Amendment of Article 4 of *P. O. Order No.*2 of 1956'‑In the Karachi Courts Order, 1956, in' Artice 4, for the existing clause (2), the following clause shall be substituted, namely :‑

"(2) The Court of the District Judge, Karachi, shall not have jurisdic tion in original civil suits and proceedings wherein the subject‑matter exceeds fifty thousand rupees."

3. Amendment of section 24 of W. P. Ordinance II of1962.‑In .the West Pakistan Civil Courts Ordinance, 1962, in section 24, in the proviso to subsection (1) and in subsection (2‑A), for the words "twenty‑five thousand", wherever occurring, the words "fifty thousand" shall be substituted.
