THE DEPUTY COMMANDER‑IN‑CHIEF (POWERS) ORDINANCE, 1942.

ORDINANCE No. XXII of 1942

[22nd May, 1942]

An Ordinance to provide for the exercise by an officer appointed by the Central Government of certain powers and functions vested in the Commander‑in‑Chief of (Subs. by A. O., 1961, Art. 2 and Sch., for "His Majesty's Forces in India" (with effect from the 23rd March, 1956).)[the Pakistan Army].

WHEREAS an emergency has arisen which makes it necessary to provide for the exercise by an officer appointed by the Central Government of certain powers and functions vested in the Commander‑in‑Chief of (Subs. by the Federal Laws (Revision and Declaration) Act, 1951 (26 of 1951), s. 4 and 3rd Sch., for "His Majesty's Forces in India".)[the Pakistan Army].

Now, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 72 of the Government of India Act, as set out in the Ninth Schedule to the Government of India Act, 1935, the Geo. Governor‑General is pleased to make and promulgate the 5, c. following Ordinance:‑‑ 26 Geo 5,c.2.

1. Short title and commencement------‑(1) This Ordinance may be called the Deputy Com mander‑in‑Chief (Powers) Ordinance, 1942.

(2) It shall come into force at once.

Powers of Deputy Commander-in-Chief-----( Subs. ibid., for the original section 2.**)**Any officer appointed to be Deputy Commander‑in Chief of the Pakistan Army may exercise any of the powers and functions vested in the Commander‑in‑Chief of the Pakistan Army by or under any Pakistan law for the time being in force.]
