WOMEN (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2018

An Act to amend the National Commission on the

Status of Women Act, 2012

No.F.24(14)/2017-Legis, dated 1.2.2018. ---The following Act of Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament) received the assent of the President on 30th January, 2018 and is hereby published for general information:-

WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the National Commission on the Status of Women Act, 2012 (VIII of 2012) for the purposes hereinafter appearing;

It is hereby enacted as follows:-

1. Short title and commencement. ---(1) This Act may be called the National Commission on the Status of Women (Amendment) Act, 2018.

(2) It shall come into force at once.

2. Amendment of section 4, Act VIII of 2012. ---In the National Commission on the Status of Women Act, 2012 (VIII of 2012), hereinafter referred to as the said Act, in section 4, after subsection (5), the following new subsection shall be added, namely:-

"(6) A vacancy of Chairperson shall be filled in as provided in this Act within thirty days of occurrence of the vacancy.".

3. Amendment of section 8, Act VIII of 2012. ---In the said Act, in section 8, the expression "or until the appointment of a new Chairperson, whichever is earlier", shall be omitted.
